Spring 2012 Episode Rankings – Week 10

It’s difficult to put together weekly rankings posts when each series is going off and doing its own thing all the time! This week it’s Eureka Seven AO that’s taking a hiatus, leaving me with 16 shows again. Additionally, two of those (Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead and Upotte!!) ended entirely this week. Will their final episodes help or hinder their performance in my end of season rankings? Only time will tell for certain, but their rankings this week should give you an indication. 😛

1 – Fate/Zero S2

2 – Tsuritama

3 – Sakamichi no Apollon

4 – Tasogare Otome x Amnesia

– Sankarea

6 – Jormungand

7 – Uchuu Kyoudai

8 – Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle 2

9 – Acchi Kochi

10 – Zetman

11 – Nazo no Kanojo X

12 – Upotte!!

13 – Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead

14 – Queen’s Blade Rebellion

15 – Saki: Achiga-hen – Episode of Side-A

16 – Shining Hearts: Shiawase no Pan

General comments:

  • Those final episodes were not great. Upotte!! just wins, as it was more entertaining, and my expectations were lower to begin with than they were for Kore wa Zombie.
  • A very creepy and well directed episode puts Tasogare Otome x Amnesia in my Top 5 for the first time, which would still be the case even if Eureka Seven had aired.
  • Meanwhile, Phi Brain makes its Top 10 debut. Not sure what it says about the rest of the series when the beach ep was my favorite so far, though. 😛  Hilarious stuff!

I couldn’t get through the first season of Fate/Zero. I just found it dull. And I know its very popular but I can’t get into it. Tsuritama is also ahead of Sakamichi no Apollon with me which came as a surprise. Its a good show. DUCK!

    • Most of the second half of Fate/Zero has been building up to the battles in the last couple of episodes – it was always going to peak nearer the end. Similarly, Tsuritama’s recent developments and cliffhanger ending are building up to what will hopefully be a great finish. Both outshone Sakamichi no Apollon for me this week; while the series is still very good, I preferred last week’s episode 9.
