Summer 2012 Episode Rankings – Week 5

Eureka Seven AO has taken a two week break due to the Olympics, giving some other series a chance at making my top 3! Speaking of the Olympics though, here in the UK it is pretty much the only thing on TV… I don’t mind watching the odd 10 minutes of an occasional event, but I couldn’t sit down and watch nothing but sport all day. Unless it’s animated, that is. 😛

1 – Natsuyuki Rendezvous (5)

2 – Kokoro Connect (5)

3 – Sword Art Online (5)

4 – Uchuu Kyoudai (18)

5 – Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (5)

6 – Yuru Yuri ♪♪ (5)

7 – Tari Tari (5)

8 – Moyashimon Returns (5)

9 – Binbougami ga! (5)

10 – Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle 2 (17)

11 – Rinne no Lagrange Season 2 (5)

12 – Oda Nobuna no Yabou (5)

13 – Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II (5)

14 – La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia (5)

15 – Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (5)

General comments:

  • Moving up: Tari Tari. I’m not a fan of flashback episodes or tragic pasts, but with the comedy shows starting to get stale, Tari Tari might just stay this high from now on.
  • Moving down (still): Binbougami-ga!. This was top of my rankings two weeks in a row? Where have the humour and the energy gone? It’s like Nichibros all over again…
  • Moving nowhere: Oda Nobuna no Yabou. It looks nice and is mildly amusing, but is too generic to stand out against shows with more originality like Phi Brain.
  • Just when I was starting to tire of Sword Art Online’s episodic nature, it throws a murder mystery at me. I’m a sucker for murder mysteries. Two-parter as well!
  • I’d be an idiot not to mention ep 5 of Kokoro Connect, which pushed it straight up into 2nd. Heartseed is such a troll! I only hope this series hasn’t peaked too early.
