The second week of a new season is always interesting – will the new shows live up to the first episodes that convinced me to pick them up, or will they drop sharply in the rankings once the excitement dies down? (Yes, it can only take a week for that to happen )
To make it easier for people to see if/how my rankings have changed, from now on I’ll be adding an indicator showing how much each series has risen or fallen from the week before. 🙂 The formatting took AGES because WordPress hates changing the colour of text, and the synopsis hyperlinks only complicate things further… worth the extra effort in my opinion, though!

After spending most of last season building up the setting and it’s many mysteries, the plot of Robotics;Notes looks as though it’s finally ready to get going. The leaked episode of Gunvarrel, the Kirishima reports and the disappearance of Frau Kojiro’s mother all seem to be related to a greater conspiracy involving solar flares and potentially the destruction of the world… but what exactly can a high school robotics club do about any of it? Guess we’ll find out soon!
Uchuu Kyoudai has been there since the beginning of my weekly rankings last spring, but has never ranked above third before (and while I didn’t do rankings for last season, it would have likely lost out to Zetsuen no Tempest, Chuunibyou and Jormungand most weeks). But right now, it is definitely the best thing I’m watching, likely due to the fact it has suddenly become so serious. While the drama in this show has always been good, it’s never been a matter of life and death before!
Out of the new shows, Minami-ke Tadaima has made the only real jump, a much funnier episode than last week’s, in my opinion. That could just be because of Makoto and Touma’s appearances – the gender confusion jokes are always among the best the series has to offer. 😛 I’d forgotten how amusing Touma’s brothers and their constant bickering could be too!
I never thought I’d see Hunter x Hunter in the red zone (even if a slight drop was inevitable as Zetsuen no Tempest recovered from its recap ep)… the episode wasn’t bad at all, but since the series peaked during the Yorknew City arc, the more recent episodes have paled in comparison. However, the Greed Island arc is only really just getting started, so chances are we’ll this series rise up again in a few weeks time.
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha‘s drop into last place one week after I said it was miles better than Mondaiji-tachi is a disappointment. Maoyuu has the more interesting premise, not to mention higher production values… but the pacing isn’t great, I’m still not overly struck on the main duo, and above all I get the feeling I’d enjoy this series more in the form of its original light novels.
