Time once again for my personal rankings for last week’s anime episodes! For one series this is the final week, and for a few others the penultimate week, but I’ll almost certainly continue until Week 12, when the majority will come to an end.
1 – Psycho-Pass ep 21 (↑ 1)
2 – Shin Sekai Yori ep 23 (↑ 3)
4 – JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure ep 22 (↑ 10)
6 – Zetsuen no Tempest ep 22 (↓ 5)
8 – Magi ep 22
9 – Ixion Saga DT ep 22 (↑ 1)
10 – Hunter x Hunter ep 70 (↓ 1)
11 – Cuticle Tantei Inaba ep 10 (↑ 6)
12 – Bakuman S3 ep 23
15 – Tamako Market ep 10 (↓ 4)
16 – Minami-ke Tadaima ep 10 (↓ 10)
17 – Little Busters! ep 22 (↓ 1)
The finale of Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? wasn’t too bad – it’s 14th place ranking is the highest the series managed in its short 10 week run, during which it failed to escape the ‘red zone’ even once. This episode featured the best action scenes of the series in my opinion, and was a satisfactory end to the arc… but didn’t really offer any closure for the series itself, leaving it wide open for continuation. Would I watch a sequel if it got one? Maybe, but it wouldn’t be high on my priorities list.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure entered my bottom 5 for the first time last week, but while episode 21 wasn’t particularly great on its own, it set the scene perfectly for this week’s epic duel to the death, which saw the series jump ten places to make its TOP 5 debut. 😀 Full of twists, turns and ridiculous methods of attack, the chariot race was just fantastic. Can’t wait to see how it ends, as well as the form Cars and Lisa Lisa’s duel will take!
This week’s Ixion Saga DT can pretty much be summed up by the words of the boatman at the end: “What the hell? Even a blind person could tell you that was someone else! This story doesn’t check out! What about the four shots at the end? What happened there!? Wait, what? That’s the episode!? We don’t have that many left! What the hell?” …but even if it made zero sense and did absolutely nothing to further the ‘plot’, it was hilarious.
I’ve not mentioned Tamako Market since I first picked it up mid-season, but it has been slowly dropping in the rankings since then. This is mostly due to other, more plot-focused series picking up the pace, as opposed to Tamako Market itself getting worse; this week’s episode, however, was probably the weakest in my opinion, simply because I’ve seen the same thing done so many times in so many other series (though without the talking bird to cheer everyone up). 😛
Bakuman S3 has also gone a long time without mention, which I feel bad about. It’s taken the best part of three 25 episode series for Ashirogi Muto to get their own anime greenlit, and all sorts of crazy things happened along the way, but it was only in this episode that the dream finally became a reality: Miho is finally confirmed to be voicing the heroine in Reversi! I guess all that remains now is for her and Mashiro to get married… and for Ashirogi to overtake Nizuma Eiji, of course!
