Very little movement this week – the ‘↓ 1’s are all the result of Shingeki no Bahamut rejoining the list. And just to make keeping track of episode counts that little bit more confusing, Parasyte had a double episode. 😛 I’ve decided to count both as one entry, for simplicity’s sake.
So the government IS aware of the Parasytes… I was starting to worry!

Moving up:
Spoiled for choice here… So, Parasyte -the maxim-. The double episode helped it a lot, as if I was basing it on ep 8 alone it would have ranked below Chaika! It was still a good episode, focusing on the physical and emotional changes that Shinichi has gone through since merging more closely with Migi, but quite slow and lacking in action. Of more interest to me than Shinichi’s romantic mishaps was the new host (Shimada Hideo) sent to his school by the former Tamiya Ryouko. His claims of wanting to co-exist with humans seem to have been an outright lie, and unfortunately, Shinichi’s friend Tachikawa Yuuko has developed an interest in him… just a crush at first, but even after she learns of his true nature in ep 9, she decides to confront him about it. This isn’t going to end well. 😕
Moving down:
Relatively-speaking, I’m still ranking Akame ga Kill! very highly – apparently the anime deviated greatly from the manga plotline a couple of episodes back, which has angered a lot of fans and presumably killed off any chances of a sequel (along with pretty much all the main cast). I can understand that. But since I’m not familiar with the manga myself, I can look at this adaptation without any bias, and IMO it’s still really entertaining. 🙂 My only slight complaint is that these constant character deaths are starting to get a little repetitive… I knew it, I AM a heartless bastard.
The Sibyl system is brains!
Psycho-Pass 2 was low in action but high in plot revelations this week! We finally learned Kamui’s secret: he’s a Frankenstein’s Monster made up of the corpses of all the children who died in the plane crash. Scanners won’t pick him up because to them, he’s seen as just a pile of corpses. Turns out the crash was unlikely to have been an accident either – it and several other crashes occurred during a trial of an alternative system to Sibyl, likely deliberate sabotage. Oh, and the company that profited from patenting the patchwork human technology was the Togane Foundation, who are likely Kamui’s target. Not enough? Mika tries to get Akane dismissed, but that backfires horribly – the ‘evidence’ used was a trap by Bureau Brain Chief Kasei, who it seems is none other than the deceased former head of the Togane Foundation… and Enforcer Togane Sakuya’s mother. WOW.
Torture, incarceration and impending doom seem to have had no effect on Amira! 😛
General comments:
Back after a recap episode is Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis, which was fantastic. Nowhere near as many plot revelations for us viewers as in some shows I ranked lower, though Kaisar finally learned the truth of his father’s death from Azazel… and Favaro immediately refuted his claims, keeping their rivalry going (though in a far more friendly fashion now, no doubt). The two work together to defeat Azazel, with help from Jeanne. The fun characters and superb combination of hilarious comedy and well-animated action scenes continue to make this series stand out, even against series with deeper or more original storylines.
Finally, Amagi Brilliant Park took a break from the park itself this week, as various cast members filled in for Kanie at school while he was down with a cold. Disguising their appearances was no problem, but they made little if any effort to emulate Kanie’s behaviour, or even manner of speech… and the results were great fun. Starting with Sento, followed by Macaron, then Tiramie (seriously, who though that was a good idea?), and finishing with Moffle, we got to see a poor girl accidentally confess to fake Kanie, start to develop feelings for him regardless, then get progressively freaked out by his wildly changing personality as the week progressed. 😀
