Week 7~ Because I only changed the one series last week, two thirds of these new episodes still come out between Friday and Sunday… fighting the urge to marathon them over the weekend remains a struggle! But at least the new addition Etotama airs on a Thursday – by that point I’d definitely have had nothing to watch in my old lineup. 😛

10 – Hibike! Euphonium ep 7 (↓ 3)
11 – Ore Monogatari!! ep 7 (↓ 2)
12 – Plastic Memories ep 7 (↓ 4)

Not much to add regarding Sidonia no Kishi – Daikyuu Wakusei Seneki – It is consistently brilliant. Every episode seems to hit a perfect balance between the slice of life antics of Nagate and his ever-growing harem, and furthering the plot as KunatOchiai keeps bringing out new gauna-based technology. It satisfies my craving for action, and the humour appeals to me as well. That it has only taken the #1 spot three times this season just goes to show how brilliant some of the other shows are, as IMO Sidonia hasn’t had a bad episode yet. Apparently next week we’ll be getting the promised Blame! anime… how that’s going to work, I haven’t a clue!
Perhaps the biggest surprise this week (even moreso than a recap episode ranking 9th!) was Ansatsu Kyoushitsu‘s leap to third. The class started their assassination with a fun video to destroy Koro-sensei mentally, and then things really got exciting. Their plan was brilliant, and I enjoyed every minute of it… but of course, Koro-sensei had another trick up his sleeve, transforming into an indestructible but immobile sphere. It was probably already Top 5 material at this point, but the sudden twist involving a third party assassin and an artificial virus sealed the deal. A shame that we don’t get to see these large scale assassination attempts more often in the series, otherwise it could easily stay up there.
More standing around talking in Fate⁄stay Night Unlimited Blade Works S2, though it was about more interesting topics than hearing about Shirou’s past for the umpteenth time. Instead, we heard about Archer’s past. Which happens to also be Shirou’s future, or one of many possible futures? Who knows when it comes to time travel and multiple dimensions. Rin also learned of Kirei’s betrayal, not only of her, but also of her father in the previous Grail War (see Fate/Zero)… she had a few strong words for him, that even made Shinji cringe! Kirei was Lancer’s master all this time, but now that he has no further use for him, he orders the Servant to kill himself. Glad to have him back as a villain. 😀
Tribe Cool Crew went through an unexpectedly great run of episodes over the past few weeks, that saw it make my Top 10 twice! The cherry blossom viewing episode was surprisingly good, the episode focusing on Mizuki’s busy life was hilarious (I hadn’t noticed her ‘Okay’ catchphrase beforehand, now I can’t not notice it 😛 ), but it was the tea shop burglary ep which saw Yuzuru transform that was my personal fave. Also, there’s something of a darker plot developing in the background, with Lui and Moe using ‘taboo’ dance moves to recover from their Dance Road defeat… oh, this week’s episode? Moderately funny, no dancing, cute character interactions. Back to normal, in other words.
I honestly thought that this would be the week that Show By Rock!! finally made my Top 5, until Ansatsu Kyoushitsu came out of nowhere to put a stop to that. An episode heavily focusing on ShinganCrimsonZ – first we got to see them making their way through Youkai Street, getting terrified by its perfectly friendly inhabitants along the way, and then they took on their 3D forms to defeat a Dark Monster… without even realizing that’s what it was! A brilliant battle, with Shingan’s own songs making for brilliant battle music! Definitely earned them a few more votes from me in the Sanrio Character Poll. Things took a darker turn towards the end however, when the remnants of the Monster went on to possess Aion! 😮
With the build up out of the way, Shokugeki no Souma featured Souma’s first Shokugeki! And, it didn’t bounce back up my rankings as I was expecting. 😮 Again, the competition is tough this season, and it wasn’t a bad episode… just a bit underwhelming. I don’t know what I was expecting, but with the assumption that they were hardly going to expel the protagonist this early on, his victory was predictable, and the judges’ food reactions weren’t that entertaining. No Isshiki this week, either. 😦 The food looked nice and made me hungry, but maybe I’d just prefer to be eating it than watching it?
