Overlooked and Underrated: Dallos

June 21, 2012

OVAs are awesome. Generally higher budget and less rushed than TV series, and not limited so much by censorship either – what’s not to like about that? 😛 There have been many times in the past when I’ve gone on binges, watching nothing but oneshots and short OVA series for days.

I soon noticed that the vast majority of those I’d watched were made in the late 80s – early 90s… which got me wondering, what was the first anime OVA to be made? After some research, I found out it was Dallos.

Overlooked: Ray the Animation

May 16, 2012

When I promise to post something within a certain time frame, it usually gets delayed. When I promise delays, I find myself with so much free time that I’m fully up to date and don’t have anything to post. Funny, isn’t it? Anyways, I decided to use this time to promote Ray the Animation, a short series which… isn’t even that great (you’ll notice I’ve left ‘underrated’ out of the title ). Still, it was very fun to watch, if mostly for the wrong reasons…

Overlooked & Underrated: Fantastic Children

April 27, 2012

I finally burnt out after posting for eleven days in a row, a shame as I’d hoped to catch up with Shining Bread before the third episode came out. 😛 With this post, I break the posting record I set during my first full month blogging (February 2010), back when it didn’t even focus on anime!

Overlooked: Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

March 9, 2012

Overlooked & Underrated: Hime-sama Goyoujin

February 29, 2012

The anime I’m posting about today is another comedy show. I realize comedy is very subjective – something that I find hilarious might be completely lost on another person, and vice-versa. However, going by its low rating on Anime-Planet, I’m one of few people from an already small number that both watched and liked Hime-sama Goyoujin.

Overlooked & Underrated: Don Dracula

February 4, 2012

Delving deeper into the world of obscure anime, we find Don Dracula! Unlike the last couple of shows I looked at, this is nice and short at just 8 episodes long. 🙂

Overlooked: Kemono no Souja Erin

January 12, 2012

Alright then, time to push a second anime series that I think deserves more love onto anybody who’ll listen. And don’t worry, I believe this one should have wider appeal than Creamy Mami, even if its woefully low A-P view count would suggest otherwise. I’m talking about Kemono no Souja Erin, a fairly recent addition to my Top 50 anime list.
